Baby Miles Newborn session

Welcoming baby Miles | Holland, MI Newborn Photographer

Some newborn sessions feel like pure magic from start to finish—and Baby Miles’ session was exactly that. From the moment his family walked into my Holland, MI studio, I could tell it was going to be a peaceful morning. Miles slept the entire time, barely making a peep, which meant we captured an incredible variety of poses and moments without ever needing to pause or reset.

As a Holland, MI newborn photographer, I always tell parents that every session is unique—some babies are wide awake and curious, others a little wiggly, and some, like Miles, just sink into dreamland as soon as they’re wrapped and warm. It’s such a gift when that happens. There’s a calm energy in the room, a kind of stillness that lets every tiny detail take center stage—his soft cheeks, little eyelashes, perfect baby fingers.

A Peaceful Studio afternoon

My studio newborn sessions are designed to feel comfortable and relaxed for everyone. The space is kept cozy and warm, with soft light and neutral tones that keep the focus on the baby. Miles’ parents settled into the couch, watching as I gently wrapped him in soft, textured fabrics and posed him in a few of my favorite setups.

He slept through it all—no startles, no cries—just those tiny sighs every parent knows so well. I used a mix of neutrals, creams, and a hint of gray, keeping things timeless and classic. These tones photograph beautifully and let the baby’s natural skin tones shine.

These kinds of sessions remind me why I fell in love with baby photography in Holland, MI. There’s nothing quite like seeing new parents’ faces light up when they view their images for the first time. These aren’t just pictures—they’re family heirlooms. Photos that will hang on walls, fill albums, and be shown to future generations.

Why Studio Sessions Are So Special

Many parents ask what makes an in-studio newborn session different from an at-home lifestyle session. The biggest difference is control—of light, temperature, and setup. My studio in Holland, MI is built specifically for babies, so everything from the lighting to the props is designed to help create soft, flattering, peaceful images.

Because the studio is consistent and temperature-controlled, babies tend to sleep better (just like Miles did!), and parents can simply relax and enjoy the process. Whether you’re a first-time parent or adding another little one to your family, these quiet moments of pause—where time seems to stand still—are such a gift in those early days.

When to Book Your Newborn Session

If you’re expecting, the best time to schedule your newborn session is during your second trimester. That guarantees availability within the ideal window—typically the first 7–14 days after birth—when babies are still in that wonderfully sleepy, curled-up stage.

Every family that comes into the studio gets a fully guided experience. I take care of everything—from setup and wraps to posing and safety—so you can just enjoy the moment. All you need to do is bring your baby, sit back, and soak in that new-parent glow.

Thank You, Miles

Baby Miles’ session was a perfect reminder of why I love photographing newborns. It’s about more than pretty pictures—it’s about connection, memory, and creating art from the fleeting beauty of those first days. Miles was a dream to photograph, and I’m so grateful his family trusted me to capture this special moment in their story.
